NEDRA presents a full day of instruction in the essentials of prospect research. This training is a must for those new to research, or those who have had research added to their roles. No experience in the field is necessary to begin learning how to apply professional research methodologies. This full day of learning will cover such subjects as:


  • The Strategic Role of Advancement Research
  • Prospect Research Fundamentals
  • The Ethical Researcher
  • Advancement Research Sources and Methodology
  • Assessing Gift Capacity
  • Presenting Research

Morning refreshments, lunch, and afternoon snacks will be served.


Faculty:


Roslyn Clarke is an assistant director of research at Harvard University’s Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. She is responsible for education and training for development research and specializes in the financial industry. Roslyn also leads research efforts for the principal gifts team and New York fundraising region while working to educate gift officers on wealth and philanthropic trends. Including positions at Brown University and Hebrew SeniorLife, Roslyn has ten years of prospect research experience.

Amy Begg is the deputy director of research at Harvard University's Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. She is also a prospect research consultant providing services to more than thirty non-profit organizations, including schools, museums, civic and youth organizations, hospitals and religious organizations in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Harvard University research department, Amy was the director of research at the YMCA of Greater New York in Midtown Manhattan. She is a member of the New England Development Researchers Association board of directors.


Nancy Faughnan is a senior research analyst at Yale University. She has over 20 years of experience in prospect research and has managed many projects in Yale Development Research, including its parents program research initiative, prospect identification, and staff training. She is also active as a freelancer in prospect research and served on the NEDRA board from 2006–2012. Nancy has presented research sessions on basic research, parents programs, international research, and research for non-research development professionals.

From the North (via Route I-93):

Take Exit 26/3 North toward 28 South/Storrow Drive. Merge onto 3 North/3A North. Continue onto 28 South (signs for Storrow Drive West). Take the Beacon Street exit on the left toward Copley Square/Back Bay. Turn left onto Beacon Street. Take the first right onto Arlington Street. Turn left onto Stuart Street and go to 200 Stuart Street. Turn right into the Revere parking area. Pass valet area and turn right to enter self parking (rate is $25 per vehicle).


From the West (via Route I-90, Mass Turnpike):

Take Exit 22 toward Prudential Center/Copley Square. Stay right toward Copley. Enter Stuart Street by staying straight through the lights. At 200 Stuart St. turn right into Revere parking area. Pass valet area and turn right to enter self parking (rate is $25 per vehicle).


From the West (via Route 9):

Proceed east on Route 9; it will become Huntington Avenue. Proceed east on Huntington Avenue; it will become Stuart Street. Continue to 200 Stuart Street. Turn right into the Revere parking area. Pass valet area and turn right to enter self parking (rate is $25 per vehicle).


From the South (via I-93, Route 3):

Take Exit 18 for Frontage Road (Mass Ave/Roxbury). Merge onto 1-93 Frontage Road. Slight right to stay on 1-93 Frontage Road.  Turn left onto W 4th St./Dover St. Continue to follow Dover St. Continue onto Berkeley St. Turn right onto Columbus Ave. Continue onto Stuart St. to 200 Stuart St. Turn right into Revere parking area. Pass valet area and turn right to enter self parking (rate is $25 per vehicle).
